Natural Ambience

One key trend that is cropping up in every room in 2019 home décor trends is a switch to a more natural ambience. We are seeing less of the tech-obsessed colours from 2018, and more natural materials from granite to copper.

2018 was all about the sleek and contemporary lines with a minimalist appeal. But today’s trends are all more natural. You want to show off comfort using materials you would find outside.

This includes large leather overstuffed pieces of furniture to more natural materials used from accents to major lifestyle pieces. Countertops are showcasing more stone and granite materials, especially in kitchens.

We are also seeing more wood and Earth tones in every major room of the home. One way to add natural ambience through natural materials in your home is to bring more metal and shiny objects into your home décor.

Goodbye Clutter and Hello Storage

One lifestyle guru that is taking the home decor world by a storm is Japanese expert Marie Kondo who is decluttering the world one house at a time. She offers a simple formula to keep your house tidy, with an emphasis on the word “simple.”

She is an expert on decluttering and simplifying your life in a way that removes anything from the home that you don’t need or use. If you were to take a good look around any room in your home, you might find several objects worth donating or tossing that were taking up valuable space.

Keeping a room tidy is a large part of home decor.  Home decor is all about making your home look beautiful while being livable at the same time.

So to meet this 2019 trend of zero clutter in the home, interior experts are coming up with more and more ways to either remove or hide clutter.  Even kitchen appliances are considered clutter to some.

But you can’t get rid of your stove.  Instead, many designers today are creating cupboards that fit your appliances when you are not using them.

Pull out a dishwasher from a stowaway cubby in the kitchen, open a cupboard to use the microwave, and even kitchen fridges that are designed to match the cupboards of your home.

If you are a clutter fanatic, storage units for anything you want is a top home decor trend of 2019.

Accents Matter

Perhaps one of the biggest trends in home décor today is the accent trend. Gone are the days of needing staple pieces that all matched perfectly, or were large-sized big-ticket items.

Today’s furniture trends are very eclectic as if you bought the furniture for your entire home at 18 different garage sales. Accents matter more than the palette you are working on.

What this says about home décor trends is that homeowners are making their homes more their own than ever before. You spend at least one-third of your life here, you want it to feel exactly like you when you are at home.

Start with a basic foundation, such as a basic kitchen cupboard and spend more time and investment using accents and handles that say you are you.

Bold Art

When you can’t decide what to do with your walls, go the art route. Start with walls of a neutral palette such as white or beige, and invest in wall art that you can take with you no matter where you live. It can be your own art, it can be your elegantly appointed kid’s art, just go art.

The artistic vibe is coming back at the same rate as the retro home décor trends. On Etsy in the last few months, there were more than 2.4 million searches of Art Deco.

It’s all about keeping in line with the most modern of home décor trends which are, making your home all your own.

Start a New Chapter

If you are one of the thousands of Australians that are considering some home improvement, then these home décor trends are a great start to your buzz of inspiration as you consider this next chapter. Home decor is fun because it allows you to show off the amazing qualities of the people that make every house a home.

Whether you are buying a new home and designing from scratch, or just revamping a room in your home, it’s exciting because it breeds a new chapter in your life.
