5 Architectural Design Trends to Look Out for In 2018

25/08/2018 . By Champion Homes

You have to live somewhere, and you only live once.

Where you live and in what kind of style says a lot about who you are as a person and the life you want to lead. By taking the right architectural design approach, you can truly have the home you’ve always dreamed of.

Like fashion, architecture and design follow trends and patterns. And in that same vein, we want something stylish yet timeless. You should be in love with your new home, especially if you’re designing it yourself.

What’s happening with architecture and design in 2018? Find out here.

1. Double Your Dollars

Real estate has value. The most basic way to understand that is to think in terms of the land, plus the value of the “improvements” to the land – that is – the building that sits on it.

In terms of residential construction, dropping in a duplex where a single-family home once stood is an easy way to increase the value of the property dramatically. Sometimes, a new construction duplex can even double the value of an old single family property!

Think about it: Part of the value of a building is the theory that someday you might want to rent the property to a tenant. With a duplex, you can rent it to TWO tenants.

2. Go Green

The eco-friendly movement shows no signs of slowing down. Architects are creating new, creative ways to incorporate nature into their designs.

Think indoor gardens and recyclable building materials. Instead of cold metals, people are flocking toward brick and wood. Ask your construction professional for advice on this. They’ll know the latest and greatest eco-friendly materials to use.

3. Think Smart

Technology is invading every part of our lives. With the advent of “smart” appliances, automation is creeping into home design. Control your thermostat remotely, use a camera to see who’s knocking at your door.

People crave ease and comfort. The right kit can provide that by making your life easier.

Driven by financial concerns, homeowners have suddenly realised that they can survive with a lot less space than they thought. You don’t need a massive plot of land to build your dream home.

4. Utilize Small Spaces

There are a million and one ways to make the most out of a small living space. Focus on the areas that are most important to you and get creative.

5. Knock it Down!

Did you know that building a house in 2018 is just easier than it used to be? When you combine modern processes, up to date materials, and an experienced builder, the whole thing is just a breeze from the property owner’s perspective.

Sometimes we need a clean slate, and a knock-down is the solution. Homeowners are razing old building down to the slabs and putting up entirely new designs in their place. Neighborhoods are transformed, and a dirty old haunted house at the end of the road becomes a jewel and a property to be proud of in a matter of weeks.

Pay Attention to Architectural Design

You want to build your dream home. To do that, you can’t ignore modern architectural design trends. People are coming up with some good ideas, so look to your neighbors [near and far] for creative ideas.

Of course, you don’t have to be an expert architect to create a beautiful home. That’s where we come in. At Champion Homes, we take your ideas and turn them into reality. Build with us and you’ll have a home that you can take pride in.
